Q: What brought you to the MSHM program?

A: When I was picking a program, the MSHM program at IU stood apart from others because of the practicum experience and the career coaching. There are so many programs out there that will teach you by the book and what history says, but with healthcare and leadership in general, it is so much different than that. When I graduate, I will have close to another full year of experience in a leadership position in a successful healthcare organization.

Q: Have you utilized any of O’Neill or Kelley Career Services?

A: With Kelley Career Services coaching, you are offered true 1-on-1 help to guide you into the beginning steps of your career and make an immediate impact on your passion. I have only been here for a few months, and I already realize that I will be set up for immediate success in May.

Q: Where were you placed for your practicum site?

A: In a few weeks, I have the opportunity to begin my practicum site, which is with Thumbprint Consulting. This will allow me to gain experience in an industry that has amazing opportunities and further insight into my possible future career role. Having this opportunity be a part of the curriculum in the MSHM program is a game changer for individuals looking to gain an extra step up on peers and stand out to recruiters.

Q: What are your post-graduation goals?

A: After graduation in May, I plan to begin with an opportunity in either Healthcare Administration with a fellowship, healthcare consulting, or a business analyst position. Because I am uncertain right now, the practicum experience and the coursework in the Fall and Spring will allow me to narrow down my options and begin in the position I want to be in. I have always had the motivation to help children and create a better life for those who struggle, so I know the organization I will be working with will possess the same values as me.
