Name: Jett Burton
Graduation Year: 2025
Q: Where were you prior to MSHM? (Undergrad major, undergrad university, job?)
A: Prior to MSHM I was studying for my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and Policy degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Most recently, during my senior year I interned for the local food bank, Hoosier Hills through the Indiana Leadership Program where I got the opportunity to work for an organization focused on giving back to the community.
Q: What are you most excited about for this coming year?
A: I have a practicum experience with Thumbprint Consulting that I am enjoying a lot, and I am looking forward to seeing our long-term projects come together and eventually see how they will impact people’s lives. I am enjoying learning about the front end of how insurance is run at my new job and look forward to getting promoted once I hit my 3-month mark.
Q: What does it mean to you to “Lead for the Greater Good”?
A: To me, leading for the greater good means understanding the people around you and using this knowledge to make decisions that are the best for everyone.
Q: What types of roles are looking for post-graduation? (Only include this if you think this is important to include, thank you)
A: Currently looking for entry-level health analyst and health consulting positions. I believe either of these career paths would be super rewarding and allow me to learn more about the healthcare.
Q: Do you feel supported by program faculty and staff?
A: I feel supported by faculty and staff. Whenever I have a problem or need assistance from faculty, they respond promptly and assist me when needed.
Q: Do you feel connected to your peers (in your cohort)?
A: I would say there is a unique bond among the people in the online cohort. We have been connecting and supporting each other which has been extremely helpful with the online environment.
Q: What is your favorite part of the MSHM program thus far?
A: My favorite part of this has been how I have been able to challenge myself in so many ways. From learning about project management and planning grants at my internship to learning about the healthcare finance industry in my classes, this has been an excellent time to learn more and home in on my organizational and technical skills.
