Tell us about yourself (family, pets, interests):
My husband and baby son bring me so much joy and help me grow as a person every single day. I also have a sweet and mischievous cat. When I’m not teaching or working on research, there’s a good chance you’d find me at the Bloomington Farmers Market, walking around one of the many parks around Bloomington, reading, or doing yoga.
Short description of the course you teach in the MSHM curriculum. How does the course you teach bring value to future health leaders?
The course I teach bridges leadership research and practice to equip students to be evidence-based managers.
Research area of interest:
Broadly, my research focuses on how social relationships at work and beyond the workplace influence employee well-being and job performance. I’m currently working on several research projects on the impact of sharing good news with colleagues.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I enjoy most about my work is giving students the chance push the boundaries of their learning through thought-provoking discussion about the concepts they’ll encounter in their careers. On the research side, my favorite part of my work is writing manuscripts and designing research studies.
Do you have any advice for MSHM students?
My advice for MSHM students is to trust yourself. This was advice I received earlier in my career. It has helped me stay grounded in times of uncertainty and turmoil by staying true to my values and strengths. In fact, following this advice is why I am here at IU!
