Since 1988, Gennesaret Free Clinics (GFC) annually serves thousands of the most vulnerable individuals in the Indianapolis community, including those experiencing homelessness and living in poverty. The GFC team provides quality, accessible healthcare regardless of one’s insurance coverage or ability to pay. Through 4 stationary medical clinic sites, 1 dental clinic, 1 mobile medical clinic with 4 partner sites, and telehealth services in English and Spanish (with interpretation services available across all service lines), GFC brings compassionate and patient-centered healthcare directly to those who need it the most at no cost.
Job/Project Overview
Gennesaret Free Clinics is looking for a Development and Marketing Fellow to aid Gennesaret Free Clinics’ fundraising and marketing efforts. GFC operates a $1.3+ million budget annually; more than 80% of this budget is generated through the philanthropy of the community. Regarding development, this position will help execute the organization’s annual giving and special event fundraising efforts, including helping organize and execute the Heartbeat Ball, GFC’s largest fundraising special event; providing assistance in launching an integrated campaign (digital/print) for GFC’s year-end appeal and spring peer-to-peer (P2P) appeal; and facilitating the creation of a volunteer fundraising guild and/or young professionals group. Regarding marketing, the position will help execute the organization’s annual marketing efforts, including creating and managing social media channels; creating a digital library of client testimonials and stories; and coordinating earned media (e.g., news broadcasting) opportunities.
Qualifications
• Experience in or interest in marketing; relevant experience includes social media content creation and management, graphic design, and web content creation and management
• Experience in or interest in development/fundraising; relevant experience includes peer-to-peer fundraising (e.g., Dance marathons, walkathons, social media fundraising), special event planning/coordination, and strong interest in relationship building.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop a quick rapport with individuals to build relationships.
• Strong writing and communications skills; creativity a plus!
• Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines; good time management is essential.
• Being a self-starter and self-motivated.
Preceptor
Zachary Alexander, Director of Development, joined Gennesaret Free Clinics on May 17, 2021. In his role, Zachary oversees all donor relations, fundraising, grant writing, and marketing for Gennesaret. Zachary has more than 7 years of experience in the nonprofit human services arena, including work in homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and substance treatment. Zachary brings not only experience in human services, but also strengths as a relationship builder, fundraiser, and marketer. He has raised nearly $5.5 million in the past 4 years, as well as helped launch GFC’s brand refresh and updated website in March 2022.
