Job/Project Overview
Project Title: Disaster Cycle Services – Volunteer Onboarding and Workforce Engagement Process
Position Title: Disaster Cycle Services – Onboarding and Engagement Fellow
Volunteer onboarding is key to enabling volunteers to obtain the needed knowledge and skills to be successful in their roles. A quality onboarding experience fosters better overall engagement, job satisfaction and long-term retention for the volunteer while mutually benefiting the clients they serve and the overall team culture. Once onboarded, workforce engagement strategies should be utilized to support the volunteer experience moving forward. Candidate will assess and gain a clear understanding of the current volunteer onboarding and workforce engagement efforts and produce an updated onboarding process. The process should include workforce engagement best practices that result in a positive volunteer experience and increased retention of our volunteer team.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Assess the current Onboarding Process and efforts around Workforce Engagement
· Facilitate focus group discussions with current volunteer around their onboarding experience
· Research best practices for onboarding and workforce engagement from other American Red Cross regions as well as other non-profit organizations
· Develop department onboarding process that incorporates training, relationship development, understanding of expectations, and continued engagement that supports a meaningful volunteer experience and increased retention.
· Develop department Workforce Engagement plan once acclimated to role to support consistent engagement on par with position expectations in order support continued growth and volunteer retention.
· Focus Given To: Disaster Action Team, Health Services and Mass Care Volunteer Positions
Qualifications
· Knowledge around program assessment and data visualization
· Knowledge around focus group discussions and collecting data
· Knowledge around project management techniques and tools
· Strong communication skills to ensure all are regularly updated and able to contribute
· Prior volunteer engagement or management experiences a bonus
