Name: Emma Schreiber
Graduation Year: 2022
Post-Graduation Employment: Huron Consulting Firm
Q: What brought you to the MSHM program?
A: Before the MSHM program, I earned my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University. I knew I wanted to make an impact on healthcare but wasn’t sure what that would look like. I recognized my skills as a problem solver and became interested in the MSHM program when I first heard about it. Immediately I was impressed by the program’s hands-on practicum experience and analytical coursework.
Q: Where were you placed for practicum?
A: While in the program, I completed my practicum experience with IU Health’s Rural Dementia Network. In this position, I worked as a project manager leading the start of a Dementia Friendly Community in Orange County, Indiana. This initiative works to diminish the stigma surrounding dementia and provide resources for those living with the disease. Thanks to my preceptor, Shelly Gilbert, for guiding me through my project and showing me the growing demand that exists for this work.
Q: What are you doing post-graduation?
A: Since graduating from the MSHM program, I have started working as a Product Services Analyst on Huron Consulting’s Global Products team. In this position, my team and I maintain revenue cycle systems for health systems throughout the US. The MSHM program’s Quantitative Analysis course best prepared me for the analytical skills this position requires.
Q: What was your favorite part of the MSHM program?
A: My favorite part of the MSHM program was the Kelley Business of Life Sciences courses. This course gave me a better understanding of where I wanted to end up in healthcare and a chance to have questions answered by senior professionals in the industry. Finally, I’d like to thank my cohort of peers in the program for their never-ending positivity and collaboration throughout. I cannot wait to see the impact each of you makes in healthcare!
