I am a graduate student in the Chemistry department. My work is the development of a new analytical tool for biochemists who are trying to understand the relationship between ions in the body and physiology. In terms of science writing, my interest is how the reader and writer must connect for an idea to be shared. "If the reader is to grasp what the writer means, the writer must understand what the reader needs." - G. Gopen and J. Swan (American Scientist, 1990). Anticipating those needs means looking at the world from the prospective of every possible reader. As an editor, I aim to bridge the gap between what the writer sees in their mind and what the reader will eventually take from what they read.
