Youth Services Digital Assistant

The Lawrenceburg Public Library District has a unique opening for a Youth Services Digital Assistant.   This position will provide technical support in a wide range of activities that align with the Library’s Digital Resource Standards such as: maintain technology critical to the delivery of services in the YS Department; access updates and maintain existing information systems to enhance user needs; improve work flow, solve new problems, or meet new information needs and cover the Help Desk as required, as well as other related library duties.

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is part of the White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis and was founded by Indianapolis businessman and philanthropist Harrison Eiteljorg. Its mission is to inspire an appreciation and understanding of the art, history and cultures of the American West and the indigenous peoples of North America. The museum executes this charge in exciting and often surprising ways.

The Eiteljorg collects and preserves high-quality Western art and Native American art and cultural objects. Its collection includes artists such as T.C. Cannon, N. C. Wyeth, Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keeffe, Allan Houser, Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and Kay WalkingStick. Assistant Professor Ayoung Yoon Presents at the Research Data Allliance 10th Plenary Meeting

Assistant Professor Ayoung Yoon had the opportunity to give a virtual presentation at the RDA (Research Data Alliance) 10th Plenary Meeting, in Montreal, Canada this September, 2017. She discussed the challenges of data sharing and reuse in developing countries or under-resourced communities.

Jones, Murillo, and Yoon take ASIS&T by Storm!

Three of our amazing faculty have been invited to participate in the ASIS&T’s 80th annual meeting in Washington, D.C., October 27th – November 1st.
This years topic: “Diversity of Engagement 2017; Connecting People and Information in the Physical and Virtual World”

Kyle Jones, LIS Assistant Professor will be participating in the InfoLearn pre-program workshop. The workshop description includes: “Researchers in both information and learning sciences aim to understand the processes that facilitate searching, learning, and knowledge co-construction, in order to advance theory and system design….ASIS&T’s new Special Interest Group, SIG Information and Learning Sciences (InfoLearn) was initiated and launched in Spring of 2017.  To mark this occasion, we will offer this half-day pre-conference workshop at the ASIS&T annual meeting. A primary goal is to present several cross-disciplinary scholars’ perspectives on key research occurring within both of these connected disciplines, offer analysis and discernment on scholarly boundaries and convergences, and identify productive ongoing and future areas of theory building, methodology and system design praxis, spanning these 2 inter-disciplinary fields.”

Kyle Jones research agenda is focused on the info ethics and policy issues of learning analytics technologies, making him an ideal participant for this workshop.

Ayoung Yoon, LIS Assistant Professor and Angela Murillo,Visiting Assistant Professor, along with two other colleagues will run a panel titled: “In Between Data Sharing and Reuse: Shareability, Availability, and Reusability in Diverse Contexts”.  Detailed information can be found at: https://www.asist.org/am17/sessions/in-between-data-sharing-and-reuse-shareability-availability-and-reusability-in-diverse-contexts/

Ayoung Yoon has also been invited to give two additional presentations.

  1.  A paper discussing how communication among researchers plays a significant role supporting date reuse; and
  2. A poster presenting preliminary findings from the exploration of data sharing challenges in developing countries, through a Uganda case study.
