Following tradition, there will be an IU Alumni Reception and Distinguished Alumni Award Celebration at the ALA Conference in Chicago.
With ILS Chair Ron Day hosting, the event is Sunday, June 25, 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Wrigley Room at the Hyatt, 151 East Wacker Drive. That’s on the Concourse Level of the West Tower.
We’ll celebrate alumnus James Mullins ’84 Ph.D., as he receives our 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award.

Did you know each year the Indiana Library Federation (ILF) awards thousands of dollars to our best and brightest Indiana Library Science students? As a part of our commitment to advancing Indiana’s libraries for the future, ILF awards higher education scholarships for those currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited graduate degree program in library and information science or seeking a Library Technical Assistant Associate Degree. Among the scholarships include one scholarship each for students seeking to specialize in children’s librarianship and in Library Media Services. PATRON SERVICES RESPONSIBILITIES
Work at the Library’s Reference Desks: Assist patrons with reference
questions and aid in their use of the Library and its collections
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT FOR TEENS AND ADULTS
-Serve on the adult materials selection committee
-Order materials for the Library’s collections
– Fulfilling materials requests: ILL and PDA
– Evergreen Indiana ILS Cat-1 & Cat-2 level cataloging

The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association, is offering a discounted student registration rate to the 2017 LITA National Forum. This offer is limited to graduate students enrolled in ALA-accredited programs. In exchange for the lower registration cost, these graduate students will be asked to assist the LITA organizers and Forum presenters with Forum on-site operations. This is a great way to network and meet librarians active in the field.
