You are invited to register for the BitCurator Users Forum! The Users Forum is a great way for students who are interested in digital archives, digital preservation, and digital forensics to get a better sense of what the work is like. Topics covered at this year’s event will include born-digital access and discoverability strategies, remote workflows, troubleshooting, and scalability. There will also be a tools demo and showcase, as well as the BitCurator Consortium’s ever-popular ‘Great Question!’ event, where participants can submit anonymous queries and receive crowdsourced answers in real time.
BUF is a smaller and more intimate conference than most and the folks who attend strive to be supportive and welcoming to newcomers. This year’s Forum is uniquely accessible to students: the conference will be held entirely virtually, and tickets are on a sliding scale starting at $0. The event will feature a Birds of a Feather breakout session that’s exclusively for current students and new grads and professionals, designed to provide a space for networking and discussion with your peers.
Special Event this year: BitCuratorEdu Educators’ Summit
The BitCuratorEdu project, in collaboration with the 2021 BitCurator Users Forum, is delighted to organize the BitCuratorEdu Educators’ Summit on Friday, October 15 (the day after the Forum). The Summit will bring together digital curation practitioners and graduate students with library and information science instructors from both academic programs and continuing education efforts to explore the latest topics, research and developments in digital curation education. The BitCurator Consortium is currently exploring offering an educational membership for LIS programs and their students that provides benefits in digital curation education. Join us at this year’s BitCurator Users Forum and Educators’ Summit to see how both students and instructors can benefit from the BitCurator community! Choose the Educators’ Summit when you register for BUF21 to receive a link to attend these sessions.
Registration closes in early October and some workshops have limited capacity, so register now to participate in this year’s BUF!
