One of the things that binds most college instructors together is our love of learning. We love the opportunity to learn new things, to stretch our brains, and look for interesting new connections. If this sounds like you, we have a great opportunity for learning about a new subject while exploring teaching from new perspectives.
As part of our Scholarly Teaching Week that runs October 6-10, we are hosting four “Take-a-Class” events that allow you to experience a lesson with an outstanding IU colleague, and then debrief afterwards about the instructional approaches you just witnessed. You get to have fun just learning about a new subject, and then swap roles and talk about the teaching involved. For me, that lights up all the nerd centers in my brain.
Here is what we have in store for you:
Monday, October 6: Allen Davis (Spanish & Portuguese)
Join Allen for an introductory Spanish lesson showing the Communicative Method in action. Don’t speak Spanish (yet)? That is okay, since now is your chance to learn a bit while you experience this language pedagogy. ¡Nos vemos en clase!
