I was helping out at a couple of FabLabs and Makerspaces in the region.
The big thing we did at one was design and laser cut a wooden ornament for each PreK student. They will sign their name to the ornament. We also were doing some order checking because a materials order got all messed up, some doubled, some tripled some single…
At another, the most fun was using the XTool F1 Ultra to laser engrave some metal tumblers. We also had to edit a sticker design to get the cut line to be the shape of the image (I used Lightburn to trace because I never get good results with Adobe Illustrator) There were also lots of projects discussed.
We were working with a Cricut for the 3rd space. They were so excited talking about the possibilities of what they could create and have available to clients. All 5 created a sticker to put somewhere, some had words, some an image & words. Then we tried cutting cardstock snowflakes – they were a pain to get off the Standard cutting mat. Though it was a little easier with the Light Grip. We also stuck a pen in a tool slot and wrote something.
