We learn best through hands on, minds on, interactive, challenging experiences. I think #Maker #MakerEd is the best way to do this. Making activates multiple parts of the brain at the same time and connects them. Making to Learn and Learning to Make puts the learning in context, with purpose and meaning. It is naturally trans-curricular and interconnected (no silos here). It promotes conversations, discussions and questions, which is where the real learning happens. It fosters and develops all the C’s you can think of : Curiosity, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Community ; as well as some non-C’s : Peers Passion Play Projects ; and Innovation. It helps learners find their voice and offers them choice. Making is great for social-emotional health.
Today’s learners will build the future, literally.
We want to help them be prepared to do that to the best of their ability.
To that end, our Mission is to help :
a) educators develop and integrate Maker Centered Learning Experiences
b) educators, students and families get more access to Maker experiences
c) places develop and integrate spaces for making that foster Curiosity, Creativity & Innovation
d) people and places develop the capacity to do this all for themselves
e) build a network of Maker Educators
f) people develop their #MakerMindset
