I had the opportunity to work with the current ROI STEM Fellows in a design challenge setting. We all met at the Edgewood JH FabLab. It is always good for educators to see someone else’s space to get ideas. I was there for support and ideas and to let them know about the Maker Mobile. There design challenge came from Boston Scientific for their product assembly lines. There are many logistics involved in assembling devices that have between 10-60 pieces and 5-20 people on a line. The one they were interested in was how to utilize the vertical space above the assembly line to better supply the pieces & assemble the parts.
Fellows split into groups and came up with a variety of ideas. Some laser cut pieces, some used vinyl cutter for labels. Most used cardboard and cardboard tools (scissors & ZipSnips and they all just received a Chompsaw). And I was a horrible teacher and forgot to take any pictures…
