I found these mini vertical axis wind turbine generators…
and I wanted to add a hand crank option. So I have been going through iterations in Tinkercad.
I made a file with the hub and the L shape inserts separately so I could manipulate them more easily in following iterations.
I printed the first one with the L inserts…
but it was too snug, and I also switched the inserts to just be rectangles.
The actual hub is 20 mm, so I mad the hole 21 in the second iteration
The inserts are still a little snug, so it doesnt go all the way on. They are pretty thin, so the printer must be having difficulty making them exact.
The next iteration will include a wider cylindrical base to add a handle to in order to hand crank it.
I do wonder if I should be laser cutting parts of this or all of this. Maybe 1/4″ acrylic?
Though I should just try wood first.
The cap for the hub takes 25 mins to 3D print. The one with the large disc says 49 minutes
