Camp Yes And is a project of the Center on Education and Lifelong Learning, in partnership with the Indiana Resource Center for Autism, two centers at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University. The 5-day camp is designed to support high-functioning teens (ages 13-18) on the autism spectrum, or those with a similar diagnosis, who would benefit from support around building social communication skills. Camp also is a professional learning opportunity for educators – K-12 general and special educators, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists and social workers, community-based arts educators, etc. Games and exercises from improv theater are used as the main teaching tools.
This year, the first-ever Spring Break sessions of Camp Yes And will be held in Kendallville, Indiana, during late March and early April. Thanks to a grant from AWS Foundation, all camp sessions are free, and priority will be given to teens and educators located in northeast Indiana.
