In December, the Indiana Resource Center for Autism will be sponsoring a workshop in four cities around the state on supporting student with mental health diagnoses. This workshop will be presented by Elizabeth Avery who has a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and Tiffany Creager, a Licensed School Social Worker. This workshop will provide information regarding how to detect a need for mental health support by evaluating both internal and external signs. We will utilize case studies to better understand how to use that information to create supportive classrooms and meaningful connections with supportive services. We will then spend time building a process for assessment and intervention for supporting the mental health needs of our students.
