We are thrilled to share that Assistant Professor Sergio Ospina Romero has been named a recipient of Indiana University’s 2024–2025 Outstanding Junior Faculty Award. This prestigious campus-wide honor recognizes early-career faculty who have demonstrated exceptional promise through their research, teaching, and creative activity.
A specialist in the global circulation of music and media technologies, Professor Ospina Romero’s work bridges musicology, sound studies, and Latin American cultural history. His scholarship is distinguished by its methodological innovation, archival rigor, and interdisciplinary reach. Since joining the Department of Musicology, he has been a vital contributor to both graduate and undergraduate education, while advancing a research profile that is drawing wide attention both within and beyond the academy.
The award includes $15,000 in research funding and will be celebrated in a university-wide reception this coming fall.
