With a week off for the new year, I am back with an exciting entry of Soundtrack of the Week! Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is another game whose soundtrack will be featured in NOTUS’ upcoming concert on January 24, 2025, “Voices & Video Games,” where we will get to hear an original arrangement of “Chakalaka” by MGS members Isaac Smith and Drake Eshleman! A flashy and punchy game about cooking and serving delicious food, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is an infectious experience with equally infectious music, composed by Jonathan Geer, who has composed music for other games such as Owlboy, and the Franz Kafka Game. Geer displays a shocking breadth of style and influence in this soundtrack; frankly, I was blown away while listening through the soundtrack this week. The production quality is detailed and satisfying to the ear, and musical sounds range from jazz, to various European and Latin American influences, to singing and other vocal sounds, robot-themed electronics, the dramatic chord progression of pop music, and more! Chances are that most readers aren’t experienced in the cooking/diner genre of video games, so I encourage you to take this opportunity to check out a truly fantastic soundtrack that you’d otherwise miss out on!
