SOUNDTRACK OF THE WEEK #11 – Deadbolt (Music by Chris Christodoulou)
In celebration of the amazing guest Q&A session we had with composer Chris Christodoulou this past week, I want to feature one of his soundtracks that seems to be lesser known. The soundtrack for DEADBOLT has some elements that can be recognized from Chris’ work in Risk of Rain, with gritty synth leads and intoxicating guitar solos, but is something standing completely on its own. The music is funkier and beat-focused overall, but then other tracks incorporate elements of jazz fusion; there is a wide mix of genres happening here. Some of my favorite tracks across the album focus on a traditional rock band sound but with odd meter grooves and aggressive guitar effects that will get your head banging! The general soundworld contains some darker and even “spooky” characteristics that provide a suggestive, but not too on-the-nose, depiction of the game’s characters and setting. There is much to enjoy and groove to in the music for DEADBOLT, so I hope you’ll check it out!

Game Summary:
“DEADBOLT is an extremely challenging stealth-action hybrid that allows you to take control of the reaper to quell the recent undead uprising. Play and complete missions given to you by the mysterious fireplace as you become the avatar of death. While the reaper has an impressive arsenal and skillset to kill the undead, he has one flaw – he dies in one shot… leaving you with no room for error.”
