Summary
An innovative ensemble consisting of eight electric guitars, a bass guitar, and a drum set, the Electric Guitar Orchestra (EGO) performs a vast array of styles in an effort to relate audiences to more types of music. The EGO performed a variety of time-honored, popular songs, as well as selected classical music excerpts. The workshop also hosted an air guitar competition, presented historical information about guitars, and gave students a chance to conduct the ensemble. Turning each school auditorium afternoon into a rock concert, the EGO toured the rural communities of Indiana, appearing in four different schools.
“I enjoyed how energetic everyone was and I like the little challenges that they did during the program. I also like how they turned classical music into something that everyone can enjoy.”
