Yie-Eun Chun’s Choral Music to Receive Performance in California
Yie-Eun Chun’s choral piece Kkomaya Kkomaya (꼬마야 꼬마야), which was premiered by the IU Symphonic choir, will be performed by the USC Recital Choir in Los Angeles on November 18.
Tyler Habig Wins 2014 IMEA Composition Competition
Tyler won the 2014 IMEA Composition Competition for his concert band piece, Always In Question, and for his string orchestra piece, To See and to Feel (the World). Always In Question will be performed in January at the 2015 IMEA convention in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
News Update from Nicole DiPaolo
This past August, Nicole DiPaolo (current DM minor, PhD theory major) served as Composition Department Chair at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, MI, instructing middle-school composition majors and minors and coaching the staff New Music Ensemble as they prepared to premiere the students’ works. Additionally, she has been invited to serve as an adjudicator for the Southwest Division of the Music Teachers National Association Composition Competition this November. Nicole also recently completed and published Venturing Beyond, a collection of twenty late-elementary and early-intermediate piano solos in all key signatures with 3 or more sharps and flats. Sang Mi Ahn’s (DM ’14) Electroacoustic Works to be Performed in Portugal and Italy
Sang Mi Ahn’s Permission to Engage has been selected for performance at the OLE.01 Festival in Italy. The work will be presented at Piazza del Gesù in Naples on October 19, 2014. In addition, her Metabolism has been selected to be presented as a Soundwalk installation at the Música Viva Festival 2014. The festival will be taking place between November 22 and December 13 in Lisbon, Portugal.
