Melody Eötvös receives New Work grant from the Australia Council for the Arts
Melody Eötvös’ successful application to the Music Section of the Australia Council for the Arts awarded her full funding for an 18 month collaboration with Australian Pianist Bernadette Harvey (Sydney) and will focus on a 21st century take on the piano sonata. Outcomes include the creation of a new large scale work for piano, with various performances including the world premiere in Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium, Australia.
Ben Taylor Receives Commission from BYU-Idaho
Benjamin Taylor was recently commissioned by Brigham Young University – Idaho to transcribe his orchestra piece, Leaving White for wind ensemble. The premiere will be March 13, 2014 in Reno, Nevada at the CBDNA conference.

Texu Kim Wins OSSIA New Music 2013-14 International Composition Prize
Texu Kim (DM Composition)’s piece Monastic Sceneries won the OSSIA New Music 2013-14 International Composition Prize (first prize). It will be performed on Tuesday 4/15 by Ossia New Music at Eastman School of Music.
Kim’s piece Sudoku Divertimento has been accepted to the GAMMA-UT 2014 Conference and will be performed on Saturday 3/29 at the University of Texas Austin.
In addition, Kim’s arrangement of Cossak Lullaby will feature the opening ceremony of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.

Sven-David Sandström Receives Performance of his St. Matthew Passion
Sandström’s monumental St. Matthew Passion was premiered on February 16, 2014. Stefan Parkman led the Philharmonischer Chor Berlin and the Staatskapelle Halle in the world premiere in the Berliner Philharmonie. Future performances will take place on 17 and 18 April in Uppsala and Stockholm (Uppsala Academy Chamber Choir / Gustaf Sjökvist Chamber Choir / Gävle Symphony Orchestra) and the Notre Dame School of Music will give the US premiere in July 2014. All performances will be conducted by Stefan Parkman.
