Orchestra Hall Performance + New Community Works Kimberly R. Osberg’s (MM ‘16) orchestral work, Night Lights, will be performed by the Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra at Orchestra Hall this February as part of the MMEA Conference in St. Paul. Kimberly worked with the 127-student orchestra as part of a three-day residency for the premiere this past August. This winter, she will also receive premieres from Chatter PDX & Chatter ABQ, a multi-day tour of a new work at state parks & natural preserves in Florida, and will be featured on three album releases with Resonance Ensemble, Calypsus Brass Quintet, and pianist Tatiana Gorbunova. Kimberly is also leading a project with Fear No Music, Chatter PDX, the Delgani Quartet, Portland Fruit Trees Project, and other community partners to commission new string quartet works from 12 composers that will be presented with visual imagery and interweaving text reflections in support of forest conservation in the PNW. Kian Ravaei (MM ’24) Premiere at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Trio Afiori (Fleur Barron, Anthony McGill, and Gloria Chien) will give the NY Premiere of Gulistan, a song cycle combining Azerbaijani, Persian, American, and English folk music, at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on November 6. |

Varis Sirisook’s Chilly Premiere in China and Brass Band Bonanza Tacet(i) Ensemble, a Thai new music ensemble and 2025 recipient Winner of the Ernst von Siemens Ensemble Prize, commissioned Varis Sirisook (M.M. in Composition) to write ‘Icy Bodies’ for flute and cello. It was premiered on October 20th at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China, and is set to have its US premiere in the upcoming student composition recital at Auer Hall, November 10th. Additionally, his 2022 brass band piece, ‘Zinc & Copper Jubilee’, will have its first US performance in the Indiana University Brass Band concert on December 8th, also at Auer Hall, having been previously performed in the UK (premiere) and Thailand. |

Orchestra Performance for Cooper Wood It haunts me still will receive its Ohio premiere by the Central Ohio Symphony on November 15th, conducted by Jaime Morales-Matos. The program will also feature a performance of Max Bruch’s first violin concerto by internationally-acclaimed violinist Aisha Syed-Castro and works by von Weber and Hindemith. It haunts me still received its premiere performance on the 2024 New Voices Concert by the IU Jacobs Symphony Orchestra, led by Prof. David Dzubay. Gabriel Jenks, Featured Artist Gabriel Jenks was a featured performer for the American Composers Orchestra’s Searchlight: 2025 Gala and Creative Catalyst Awards on October 16th at 6pm at 48 Wall Street in New York, NY. Gabriel played the guitar and sang his song “Everyone’s Been Quiet Too Long” for this event in honor of visionary supporters of new music in dark times. |
