Chappell Kingsland has received a major commission from Roundabout Opera for Kids to write a new work for performance during the 2014-2015 school year. The Discovery of Fire will be a half-hour chamber opera dramatizing myths from three ancient cultures (the Mayans, the Greeks, and the Chaga from Kenya). RoK will perform the work with Jacobs School of Music students at dozens of schools in the Bloomington area.
