Composer Ryan Chase has been awarded a 2013 Fromm Commission from the Harvard Fromm Music Foundation. The $12,000 commission will go towards the composition of a new work for the ensemble Lunatics at Large based on texts by Geoffrey Chaucer.
Previous recipients of the Fromm Commission include such prominent composers as Luciano Berio, Elliott Carter, Leon Kirchner, Augusta Read Thomas, and Roger Reynolds. The Fromm Music Foundation was founded by Paul Fromm in the 1950’s and has been located at Harvard University since 1972.
Ryan is currently a DM student at Indiana University and teaches in the Department of Music in General Studies.
