Composer Elliott Bark’s dissertation YOOK-I-O (6-2-5): KOREAN WAR LETTERS will be performed by the IU Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro David Effron on October 9 at the Musical Arts Center.
Bark received his doctoral degree in composition from Indiana University, where he also served as an Associate Instructor in the composition department. During his time at IU he studied with Claude Baker, David Dzubay, Don Freund, P.Q. Phan and Sydney Hodkinson and instrumental conducting with David Effron, Arthur Fagen and Cliff Colnot.
Recent performances of Bark’s work include Tango Suite for String Quartet on August 1-2 by the Tesla Quartet at the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck in Michigan. Both performances saw sold out crowds.
