Jacobs composition student Gonçalo Lourenço received a commission to write a solo piano piece as part of “The Black Square Project”.
Lourenço has been invited to compose a piece inspired by Russian suprematist artist Kazimir Malevich and his masterwork “The Black Square”, the results of which will be recorded by Jonathan Powell, one of todays most sought after virtuoso pianists.
In July 2013, Coro Anonymus will celebrate the 125th birthday of the renowned Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. For a 60-minute concert, Coro Anonymus invited Lourenço to write a new piece which will alternate sung and spoken words from Pessoa’s vast literary output, covering his own poems and the most important heteronyms.
