Summer is a time of rest and recreation, and our Choral Conducting majors plan to spend their time away from the Jacobs School in creative and musical ways. See what they plan to do below.
Samuel Grace, Founding Artistic Director of MPLS (imPulse), a Twin Cities based chorus
will be leading a project in June called Beards in Space. Find out more about this forward looking musical organization at their website.
Peter Kadeli was accepted as a conducting participant to the Conductors Retreat at Medomak, a two-and-a-half-week orchestral conducting institute with faculty Ken Kiesler. Repertoire includes Mozart’s Ballet Music for Idomeneo, Brahms’ Symphony No. 3, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, and James Lee III’s Tethered Voices.
Miggi Angangco will be a part of the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival – Yale Summer School of Music from Aug. 14-21. He has been accepted as both countertenor singer and conducting fellow.
Nicholas Sienkiewicz was accepted to participate in NYU’s Summer Intensive in Musical Theatre Conducting. This two week program, led by Maestro Ted Sperling, involves leading Broadway-style orchestras, collaborating with established guest artists, and participating in master classes with Broadway directors, producers, orchestrators, choreographers, and musicians.
From July 10-17, Sergey Tkachenko will be a Choral Conducting Apprentice for the Berkshire Choral Festival in Saratoga Springs, NY. He will be assisting with the preparation of Handel’s Judas Maccabeus conducted by Gary Thor Wedow.
Sergey will be a Choral Conducting Fellow for the 2022 Norfolk Chamber Music Festival – Yale Summer School of Music’s Chamber Choir and Choral Conducting Workshop led by Simon Carrington from August 14-21.
