Spring 2021 MUS-X70 University Choral Ensembles
Information about auditions for spring semester X70 ensembles is forthcoming. Please check back.
Our primary consideration in the time of COVID-19 is student safety. Consequently there is an online-only version of X70 available for those who are unable to, or who do not wish to participate in face-to-face singing activities for whatever reason. Please notify David Villanueva at email@example.com if you intend to participate in the online-only version of the course.
To decrease the number of students in our rehearsal halls, our usual concert choirs will be suspended and replaced by vocal chamber ensembles consisting of 12 or fewer singers. There will be two opera choruses this fall, one for Little Women with 8 sopranos/altos, and one for Barber of Seville, with 12 (maximum) tenors/basses.
All Jacobs School choral ensembles will rehearse and perform with 100 sq ft of space per singer, and, following the IU mandate, everyone will wear masks. The new vocal chamber ensembles will each rehearse and perform for one three-week period during the semester. A variety of remote activities, including a variety of guest artist panels, will complete the fall semester choral activities for members of the vocal chamber ensembles and the opera choruses.
