If you want to take courses at other institutions and transfer them to IU High School, read this first.
Some IU High School Students choose to take courses at other institutions to supplement their learning and bolster their skills. We applaud these efforts and support their passion for learning. However, if IU High School students wish for these courses taken at outside institutions to count toward an IU High School Diploma or toward college, university, or postgraduate institution credits, we strongly urge students to review the following procedures:
To count toward an IU High School Diploma: Diploma students must seek pre-approval to take courses from other institutions if they wish to count those credits toward their IU High School diploma. Both for the purpose of keeping a student’s plan sheet updated and to ensure that the courses meet IU High School standards and will be accepted as transfer credits, it is imperative that students email the IU High School advisors at ASKIUHS@indiana.edu to submit a formal written request to take courses at other institutions.
Please note that IU High school does not accept credits from non-accredited institutions or form non-credit granting institutions.
To count at a College, University, or Institution: Always check with the IU High School Advisors and the institution you plan to attend before taking courses you wish to count for dual credit to be sure those credits will transfer.
