Indiana University’s Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) will welcome Talitha Washington, Director of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Data Science Initiative and Professor of Mathematics at Clark Atlanta University, to Bloomington from February 26-27, 2024 as part of PBK’s Visiting Scholars program. This program brings distinguished scholars in a variety of disciplines to campuses across the nation, and we are honored to host Dr. Washington as she will speak on “The Mathematics of the Hidden Figures” in which she will uncover the essential ideas created by Katharine Johnson that sent John Glenn into orbit and brought him back safely in a racially segregated era.
This public lecture will be on Monday, February 26, at 4:15pm in Chemistry Building 001. We hope to see you there!
