The LSAT is the single-most important factor in admissions and scholarship decisions for U.S. law schools. In fact, admissions decisions correlate strongly with specific LSAT scores at each of the nation’s 200+ institutions. Therefore, it is more important than ever for prelaw students and alumni to set accurate LSAT goals and train properly to achieve them.
The HPPLC LSAT workshop comprises 20 hours of live instruction, usually taught by outstanding current law students or recent graduates. Meeting times and lengths vary depending on the approach of the instructor and are usually held on evenings and weekends. No academic credit is provided for this workshop.
Cost: $225.00. Participants must also purchase any additional texts the instructor may require. Participants must have an IU bursar’s account in order to register. Please contact the IU bursar directly if you need to set up or reactivate your account.
Workshop Structure
The structure of the LSAT workshop may vary according to the instructor, but typically resembles the schedule below:
Session 1: Introduction and First Diagnostic Exam
Session 2: Analytical Reasoning Introduction
Session 3: Analytical Reasoning Continued
Session 4: Logical Reasoning Introduction
Session 5: Logical Reasoning Continued
Session 6: Reading Comprehension and Writing Sample
Session 7: Second Diagnostic Exam and Workshop Review
The workshop is bookended by two diagnostic exams to provide participants with a working score at the beginning and end. Inbetween, participants will learn about the content and structure used to construct each section of the LSAT and the best ways to approach test questions.
Upon completion, participants will possess the conceptual background and skills they need to effectively train to reach their goal score. If needed, they are then encouraged to continue training with other workshop attendees using HPPLC’s library of past exams or third-party resources.
*Not every potential law school applicant needs a live workshop to adequately prepare for the LSAT — and many need even more. HPPLC has additional resources available, including copies of over 70 past official LSAT exams and other prep materials students can borrow at no charge by inquiring at the University Division reception desk in Wells Library 002. In addition, all prelaw students and alumni are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a HPPLC prelaw advisor for a one-on-one discussion of their LSAT prep strategy.
