The Repository Services Analyst manages the ingest, description, access, and maintenance of data in Duke University Libraries’ digital repository platforms. Working closely with the Research Data Management Consultants, s/he supports the data curation, preservation, and publishing needs of the research community at Duke. S/he collaborates with a diverse set of repository stakeholders within Duke University Libraries, on campus, and in the international digital library field to provide strategic services, ensure DUL systems comply with international practice and standards, and meet the needs of the Duke scholarly community. Responsibilities

• Documents, guides, and carries out content ingest workflows for Duke University Libraries’ digital preservation platforms: the Duke Digital Repository (DDR), DukeSpace and the Research Data Repository (RDR).
• Consults with the Metadata Architect in the development of metadata profiles for new materials and conducts reviews of descriptive metadata for reposited digital objects.
• Acts as a point of contact for Duke preservation platforms.
• Serves on the product ownership team for the Research Data Repository by translating user needs related to digital curation into functional requirements, and then collaborates as needed with the technical team for successful implementation.
• Analyzes collections of digital objects, detects irregularities, and employs or develops software tools and scripts to manage and migrate content, or to transform, tidy, and curate raw data, according to the needs of individual projects.
• Provides instruction and consultation for library staff and campus partners on best practices for digital curation.
• Participates in digital preservation planning and prioritization related activities to ensure Duke’s repository platforms comply with current and emerging preservation standards.
• Actively participates in relevant conferences and meetings. Shares research, networks, and actively engages in national data management conversations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: BA/BS or higher (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience).

Preferred: Master’s degree.

Experience

Required: 

• 1 year experience working in an academic library and/or managing data in a digital storage environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and package significant amounts of information, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience using analytical tools such as MS Excel.
• Experience in requirements gathering in the early stages of technology projects.
• Interest in learning and implementing data curation principles and practices, as well as collaborating with other higher education networks engaged in data curation.

Preferred:

• At least two years working in a digital production or data management environment.
• Experience working as a Product Owner (PO) in a technical environment and communicating with developers, formulating requirements, and performing acceptance testing.
• Familiarity with the research lifecycle in an academic environment.
• Experience managing discipline-specific data.
• Ability to execute command-line scripts.
• Working knowledge of the data management capabilities of scripting and/or object oriented programming languages.
• Experience responding to changes in project goals or requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer services.

Salary and Benefits

Position Summary

The Gordon B. Olson Library at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota, invites applications for a full-time Electronic Resources and Collection Management Librarian.

Position Responsibilities

• Coordinate collection development.
• Maintain the serials collection.
• Monitor accessibility and usage of serials and electronic resources.
• Work with faculty to develop the collection in assigned subject areas.
• Collaborate with academic departments to provide collection information for program reviews and accreditation reports.
• Provide reference services as scheduled, during the day as well as on regularly-scheduled evenings and weekends.
• Serve on campus committees.
• Contribute to ongoing assessment of library collections, policies, and services.

Required Qualifications

This position requires a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library science program.  Other required qualifications include: excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty, administration and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that we are looking for in the successful candidate include experience working in an academic library, experience managing a collection development program, expertise in using the SUSHI protocol for harvesting library statistics, reference skills, proficiency using standard office software and library online tools, and strong organizational and project-management skills.

 Compensation

The salary range is $44,472 to $56,000 s, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Comprehensive fringe benefit package includes employer-paid full family coverage for health insurance, TIAA-CREF retirement plan, and tuition-waver benefits.
