Internship Title: Information Literacy Intern

Salary: Academic credit through MLS program

Schedule: Flexible schedule during work week (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm)

Internship Summary: The B.F. Hamilton Library offers an opportunity for MLS students to gain experience planning and teaching college-level information literacy skills. Intern will work with a faculty librarian mentor to develop a plan consisting of shadowing, observing, and facilitating information literacy instruction. Additionally, this internship will culminate in a completed project focused on the design of a model/template assessment plan for instructional sessions, including outcomes and instructor effectiveness and a literature review.
Required Internship duties and responsibilities:
- Creating a model/template assessment plan for library instructional sessions
- Designing and implementing a variety of face-to-face and online instructional materials using current tools, such as LibGuides
- Observing, planning, and facilitating classroom instructional sessions
- Participating in library marketing and outreach efforts, including the organization of a program and/or event
- Providing research support for patrons as needed
Qualifications:
- Required: Completion of at least one semester in the MLS program
- Preferred: Coursework in reference or human information needs
- Preferred: Coursework in assessment or evaluation
