The course will provide a practical foundation in the essential concepts, processes, and technologies driving the development of electronic resource management in libraries. The topics covered include scholarly publishing, library‐vendor relations, contract law, information standards, copyright, linking and aggregation technologies, and the management systems used to control the administrative metadata for electronic resources.
And if you have completed S503 and S504, consider S631 Advanced Cataloging.

Prerequisite(s): LIS S401, S503, and S504
S631 will cover cataloging serials (print and online), as well as other non-print materials — audiovisual (DVDs, Blu-Ray, sound recordings, etc.), online resources (eBooks, eAudiobooks, integrating resources, streaming media, etc.), three-dimensional artifacts. In addition, you’ll move on to authority work, Linked Data/BIBFRAME. And a bit on the MARCEdit tool!
