Course Description:
Storytelling is one of our oldest art forms and a powerful mechanism for connecting users with our collections. Students will have several opportunities to apply their skills to stories from the oral tradition for a variety of ages and contexts, from working with puppets and felt stories to telling a fine folktale with minimal embellishment. Former students have used this course to help prepare sample storytimes for interviews and better speaking skills for job talks. While the focus of the course is library storytelling to children and teens, I invite students from all backgrounds to enroll in this course designed to cultivate speaking and storytelling skills in a warm, supportive, and creative environment.
