- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: combination of day, evening, and weekend hours; including occasional mandatory Sundays. Weekend hours are part of the normally scheduled 40 hour work week.

A successful candidate will…
- Have a Master of Library or related master’s degree
- Three to five years of librarian or management experience
- Have previous experience working with people ages 0-18 and group presentation experience is a plus.
- Possess a high degree of digital literacy.
- Have an Indiana State Librarian Certificate 3- Professional Assistant or the ability and willingness to obtain certification after hired.
- Be available to work day, evening, weekend and holiday hours as needed.
What does the job look like?
- Creates schedules for Youth Multimedia Learning Specialist team to ensure optimal programming opportunities for community families and children.
- Presents digital learning experiences appropriate to age group; models appropriate process; leads participants to satisfactory conclusion of activity.
- Based on best practices and current research, leads the team to create age-appropriate digital activities and to participate in cycles of evaluation and innovation of programs for youth and families at Central Library.
- Prepares and leads the team in preparing digital and physical content for display.
- Coordinates with agency staff to plan special events; promotes activities; creates content for promotion.
- Centering the objectives of learning, courageous exploration, and fun, selects suitable software and hardware tools; researches new tools and determines incorporation method and script to share with team.
- Maintains, updates, troubleshoots and repairs all technology not directly supported by IT, including tablets, various robotic systems, virtual reality equipment, 3D printers, conventional printers, projectors. Works with IT to facilitate stewardship of IT-supported devices.
- Learns and demonstrates proficiency with all software included in laptop and tablet builds, including productivity software, image editing, audio recording, animation, drawing, coding, physics simulations, etc.
- Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates performance for assigned personnel and volunteers.
- Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate information to staff, listens to staff concerns and reports them to senior management as appropriate.
- Directs staff in the marketing of the collection through comments and lists on Bibliocommons. Creates comments, lists and blogs on Bibliocommons.
- Provides direction, modeling, coaching and leadership to staff to ensure excellent customer service.
- Able to work the normally scheduled work time for this position.
- Acts as person-in-charge on a regular basis; attends to patron, security and building issues as needed. Informs and enforces library policies and procedures as needed. Determines if suspension of patron privileges is warranted and length of time of suspension.
- Able to multi-task and cope with daily job-related stress.
