Job Title: Archives Teaching Assistant
Pay Rate: $12.08/hr
Overview:
This teaching assistant will help Lydia Spotts grade assignments for sections LIS 581 and possibly LIS 584, depending on qualifications. The ideal candidate will have taken both classes, but 584 is not required. This work will require excellent academic writing skills and knowledge of APA citation format. This position will also require sensitivity to student rights and privacy, and ability to complete university trainings and comply with policy on student data.
As time permits, the assistant will also convert a Canvas module of career resources into a Zotero library and convert a bibliography for LIS-S 681 to a Zotero library.
This position is valuable work experience for a student who is interested in working in academic libraries, higher ed, or teaching in their future career.
Job duties and responsibilities:
- Checking student assignments against rubrics and criteria, or checking quiz answers against a key
- Assessing written assignments for clear writing, thesis, conclusion, APA in-text citations and bibliographies
Work Hours:
- Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible schedule, working as-needed on submitted assignments
- Fully remote
Required qualifications:
- Current graduate student in library science at IUPUI School of Informatics and Computing
- Completion of LIS-S 581 Archives and Records Management
- Excellent academic writing skills
- Knowledge of APA citation format
- Ability to work independently
Preferred qualifications:
- Completion of LIS-S 584 Archival Arrangement and Description
- Knowledge of Zotero
A successful application who has not taken LIS-S 584 but plans to in future semesters will not grade work for this course.
