POSITION DESCRIPTION: Texas Tech University is accepting applications for a Library Faculty Fellow. This post terminal degree appointment (non-tenure track) librarian position will allow the incumbent to gain professional experience as an academic librarian. This position reports to the Head of Research, Instruction & Outreach. The Library Faculty Fellow is an annually renewable appointment for up to three years.
The Libraries are looking for someone who would add to our very diverse library faculty through research and facilitate and help foster new and innovative ways to contribute to the scholarship of the University. The Library Faculty Fellow is intended to provide on-the-job training and learning experiences for library science graduates interested in pursuing a career in an academic library. The fellowship will offer many opportunities for professional development. The incumbent will deliver presentations, attend state and national conferences and be given the opportunity to perform research and publish. The fellow will have the opportunity to be immersed in the library profession and make contributions to the major functions of the library including innovative programming and data and technology initiatives adding to diverse scholarship among faculty ranks. The Library Faculty Fellow will facilitate access to resources through a variety of tools and formats and must maintain current knowledge of and implement best practices in academic librarianship. In addition, the Fellow will work with diverse populations including students from underrepresented groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Participate in programs and events that support student recruitment, academic preparedness, and retention with particular attention to diverse student populations. • Participate and contribute to information literacy integration into first-year programs including but not limited to Raider Ready (IS 1100, Freshmen Seminar), First Year Composition and Second Year Literature classes. • Contribute to development of and support for instruction for courses, workshops and programs. • Engage in service to the Libraries, the University, and to professional organizations by participating in committee work, projects, and contributory achievements
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or international equivalent. Preferred: Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats and to diverse audiences. Ability to work in a team environment where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration and cooperation are essential. Proven time management skills. Proven ability to create and assess innovative programming. Experience with integrated library and discovery systems. Proven project management skills.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a nationally competitive salary. Librarians and archivists have academic status and are an integral part of the academic teaching and research mission of the University.
