“Library Capacity Assessment and Development for Big Data Curation” project (PI: Dr. Ayoung Yoon (IUPUI) & Co-PI: Dr. Devan Donaldson (IUB)) is seeking one or two enthusiastic student research assistant(s) who will be assisting various project and research activities. The goal of this 1-year-planning project is to develop a conceptual framework for assessing libraries’ capacity for big data curation. The purpose of this planning project is to provide a research-based foundation for a full project, which involves the development of a big data curation capacity assessment toolkit that will be freely available to academic and public libraries.
This is an IMLS funded project, and the RA(s) will contribute a total 200 hours (or 100 hours each) effort and will be responsible for the following activities:
- Help with project management
- Communication with subjects and email solicitation
- Transcription
- Literature review
- Initial data analysis
This is an hourly paid position, with a rate of $13 per hour.
Ideal candidates should have:
- Strong interests in the topics of data curation, data management, open data, and library assessment
- Some experience or training in research or strong interest in research
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to be on-time
This RAship will start Dec 2017, and the position will be for one year (until Nov 2018).
