The 2017 NASIG Annual Conference will be held in Indianapolis this year with the theme “Racing to the Crossroads,” a great opportunity to learn more about scholarly communications & research data, serials, e-serials, technical services, and so much more.
Early bird registration runs until May 5th, and students enjoy a discount conference rate. There’s also a call for Student Spotlight Sessions, 5-minute conference presentations, with proposals due by March 30th. A new NASIG initiative this year is a Student Mentoring Program, which kicks off at the conference in Indianapolis and will provide a year-long mentoring opportunity for students to be paired with current NASIG members contributing to the field.
Finally, NASIG membership is free for students! NASIG, (formerly the North American Serials Interest Group), is a professional library association founded in 1985 to support communication, information, and continuing education about serials, electronic resources, and scholarly communications. Modeled after the United Kingdom Serials Group (USKG), NASIG has a very active membership and listserv called SERIALST, a valuable resource that you can join at any time.
