Don’t Miss the 2025 Asian Heritage Festival This Evening!

Come join us to learn about Asian cultures through quality entertainment and performances. Yummy Asian food sampling is included with this free family-friendly event! Open to all campus and community.

Friday, April 4, 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM in the University Grill

Come munch on some yummy Asian food with quality entertainment and performances from all around Asia, including Japanese Taiko, K-Pop dance, singing from China, dances from Japan and India, and more!

In addition to the best Asian performances and cultural experiences in the area, there will be booths set up to experience Asian culture first hand. This includes origami, Japanese tea ceremony, and Chinese calligraphy.

Plus, all of this Family friendly fun is completely free and open to all campus and community!

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • The nominated individual should demonstrate consistent stellar performance of job functions
  • Additionally, they should demonstrate one or more of the following:
    • Going above and beyond normal responsibilities
    • Identifying improvements in processes where efficiencies were gained
    • Initiating creative and innovative ideas that advance our mission or meet an exceptional need
    • Creating new activities that had a significant impact on student success

Captioning videos is crucial for accessibility, improving comprehension, and boosting engagement, benefiting viewers with hearing impairments, language learners, and those in noisy environments. In this workshop, attendees will learn how best to make sure their content is captioned, how to edit those captions, and how to make certain that those captions are viewable by students.

IU South Bend Tap and Kickline Show on Sunday

The IU South Bend Tap and Kickline will perform their favorite routines in the Campus Auditorium on Sunday, April 6th at 2pm. Admission is free. Guest appearance by the students of Tap 1 & 2!

The IU South Bend Tap and Kickline performs in the community for events such as First Fridays or the South Bend VPA Daddy/Daughter Dance. 23rd Annual International Food Festival on Saturday!

The 23rd annual International Food Festival will be held on Saturday, April 5, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the University Grill.

Everyone is invited to attend in the food festival celebrations.
Tickets are $10 (cash only).

During the day of the event you can expect the following:

We’ll be happy to welcome you and your guests at the check-in table when you arrive. You can either present your pre-purchased ticket(s) at check-in or purchase the tickets there. In exchange for your ticket, you will receive dinnerware and an event program. Once you are settled, jump in the queue to try samples of international dishes, desserts, and beverages made by our students. While enjoying your plate of food, you will be entertained with performances by IU South Bend students, staff, and faculty.

Today: 4th Annual Titans Talk

Please join our 4th annual IU South Bend Titans Talk event for a meaningful discussion regarding shared mental health experiences. The event will be held on Thursday evening, April 3rd, 2025 from 6:00pm-8:00pm, in the Wiekamp Auditorium, room 1001 Wiekamp Building (DW).

This forum is dedicated as a safe space to share anonymous monologues from IU South Bend students, faculty, and staff, and read by volunteers from student organizations within our campus community.

People across the country are talking about the cancellation of student visas and detention of student activists, the decision to transfer alleged gang members to an El Salvador prison without legal proceedings in the USA, and the Attorney General’s decision to seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangione for his alleged killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. These are just a few of the issues dividing Americans as they consider long-term debates surrounding free speech, immigration policy, and the capital punishment and renewed debates about due process and the rule of law. We’ll discuss these issues and more this summer.

Enroll in POLS Y201: Controversies in U.S. Politics Now! 

  • Fulfill the Campus General Education Requirement for critical thinking.
  • Learn the difference between good and bad reasoning.
  • Understand the difference between logic and political ideology (Left & Right!)
  • Spot common logical fallacies and rhetorical tricks used to mislead.
  • Investigate some of the most controversial issues facing U.S. citizens and policymakers.
  • Course meets ONLINE: May 20 – June 30, T/R 1:00 – 4:15

Join fellow students online for this fast-paced, interactive six-week course where we will discuss:

  • Common logical fallacies: slippery slope, common practice, traditional wisdom, ad hominem attack, guilt by association, non sequitur, two wrongs, appeal to popularity, appeal to fear, and more . . .
  • Contemporary policy debates: immigration, guns, death penalty, torture, free speech/hate speech, and more . .

Learn to evaluate the pros and cons, costs and benefits of various policy options. Consider how the U.S. Constitution, legal statutes, and past court decisions shape what’s possible. Form your own opinions about the best direction for U.S. public policy. Learn to talk with people who disagree with you on the issues and to distinguish between value-based statements and evidence-based arguments. Practice the critical thinking and interpersonal communication skills needed for academic, professional, and personal success.
