Spring 2025 Leadership Development Certification Program

Gain a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge leadership strategies by expanding the capacity of an organization’s talent management ecosystem, building government relations and community engagement acumen, and developing critical incident management and conflict resolution skills with IU’s Leadership Development Certification Program.

This affordable and top ranked program is a 10-week, 5-module program with expert-led classes that help participants become better leaders, managers, and allies for today’s workplace. The program combines two in-person and seven online sessions, including industry leaders’ keynotes, interactive case studies, and thought-provoking assignments that prepare participants to work, lead, and live in a global, multi-faceted world. A Leadership Seminar kicks off the program, which concludes with a Leadership Development Symposium and Certificate Ceremony.

Leadership Begins With Me Keynote: Ellise Smith	Participants will explore, identify, and define the various facets of their leadership identity. By the end of this module, participants will be able to: Enhance Self-Awareness: Gain a deeper understanding of their personal and professional identities, thereby improving self-awareness. Improve Communication: Facilitate clearer communication and more effective relationships by recognizing how their identity influences interactions with others. Promote Personal Growth: Engage in reflective practices to identify strengths and areas for development, fostering ongoing personal and professional growth. Organizational Management and Human Resources Keynote: Vicky Hidalgo	Participants will evaluate and expand their capacity for effectively incorporating inclusive excellence throughout the talent ecosystem, ultimately fostering a healthier and more equitable organizational environment. Explore the historical connections and disconnections between human resource departments and diversity, equity, and inclusion. By the end of this module, participants will be able to: Identify and Apply Inclusive Recruitment Practices: Recognize the importance of diverse sourcing and bias mitigation throughout the recruitment process and apply strategies to enhance fairness and engage dynamic candidates. Design and Implement Effective Onboarding Programs: Develop onboarding processes that are welcoming and supportive, incorporating inclusive orientation materials and mentorship opportunities to ensure smooth integration and effectiveness of new hires. Create Equitable Development Opportunities: Establish and promote training and career development programs that address professional growth and social growth and provide transparent career pathways to support equitable advancement for employees. Government Relations and Community Engagement Keynote: Sedelta Oosahwee	Participants will investigate and categorize how government policies, social and political movements, workforce development, industry effectiveness, and ethical considerations in organizational practices are interconnected. By the end of this module, participants will be able to: Understand the interconnectedness of government policies and procedures on workforce development. Articulate the differences between impactful community engagement and community exploitation. Develop impactful programming and strategic initiatives that contribute to social change, job creation, and economic development. Deliverable: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative
Critical Incident Management and Conflict Resolution Keynote: Benjamin Hunter and Monica Johnson	Participants will analyze the impact of critical incidents, natural disasters, and crises on organizational dynamics and will study methodologies for effectively managing and resolving conflicts to ensure both immediate resolution and the long-term health of the organization. By the end of this module, participants will be able to: Understand HR implications of conflict resolution. Develop strategies for managing and communicating conflict resolution to external audiences. Implement de-escalation strategies and restorative techniques to facilitate reconciliation and mutual understanding among parties. Design continuity plans to ensure organizational stability and ongoing operations amidst conflicts. Deliverable: Critical Incident Continuity Plan

IT Notice: NS Generator Load Test – Dec 19 – 5:15pm – 5:45pm

UITS will be performing a test of the Northside backup generator on Thursday, December 19 from 5:15 – 5:45pm. This test is performed quarterly to make sure it is working in case of a power outage.

Brown Bag Supervisor Training: Learning While Earning in Student Employment

A training opportunity for supervisors of student employees.

This virtual training will focus on bringing learning back to student employment positions. We will talk about different ways this can be accomplished including learning outcomes in job descriptions tied to the Profiles of Learning, professional development plans, and incorporating learning style preferences into position duties. Participants can expect to contribute to a discussion and be open minded to hearing from others!

“The UITS team on the ground level of Northside Hall saved the day in one of my courses earlier this week. The Mosaic workstation was having AV issues, but the team showed up lightning fast and persisted with several rounds of problem-solving until it was resolved. Class resumed in no time and it was smooth sailing from there. Thank you for your stellar support!”
