Students, are you wondering how you will be able to return your Fall rental books when you are done with them??

The Bookstore will be open during this time! You may bring them in the store and check them in. For the week of finals, we are open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and Sat (Dec 19) 10am-2pm.

If you are unable to turn them into us in person, you can visit https://iusb.bncollege.com/shop/iu-southbend/page/rental-book-return to print off a UPS label and ship it back to us. The cost is $5 and can be paid using a Credit Card or Paypal. All you will need to do is package them up, put on the label and drop them off at your local UPS store!

About the 500 Festival Princess Program:

Since 1958, the 500 Festival has annually celebrated 33 of Indiana’s up and coming college leaders to serve as ambassadors for the Month of May and the Indianapolis 500. The 500 Festival Princesses are civic minded, academically driven young women who are looking for personal and professional development and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the Month of May. In the months leading up to May, 500 Festival Princesses will organize statewide outreach programs, including virtual visits to hospitals, schools and various youth programs promoting the 500 Festival’s mission of celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500 and making a positive impact across the state.

Each 500 Festival Princess will receive the following:

• $1,000 academic scholarship
• A unique, hands-on way of experiencing the celebration of the Month of May and Indianapolis 500
• Countless networking and professional development opportunities
• A custom designed necklace and complimentary clothing to wear to various events
• 32 great new friends!

To apply for the program, you must meet the below requirements:

• Indiana resident
• Full-time student at a college or university in Indiana

Putnam County Community Foundation is now offering a new scholarship: Alpha Gamma Delta Eta Alumnae Scholarship.  Students must be a sophomore or junior status for the upcoming academic year and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.  The criteria used to evaluate are: Intellectual and social commitment, scholastic ability, extracurricular achievements, ability to articulate a career plan that shows motivation, and initiative and commitment.

Log into your Zoom at IU account to automatically bypass this security feature.

Zoom at IU will enable waiting rooms as a security default for all new meetings as of Dec. 21. Users who are logged in with their Zoom at IU accounts will automatically bypass the waiting room by default. This way, meeting hosts won’t have to admit authorized attendees one by one. Participants from outside IU will still need to be individually admitted.

The automatic bypass setting can be changed. Hosts will also have the ability to turn off the waiting room completely. Review your waiting room settings prior to or after the update on Dec. 21 to ensure attendees can be admitted in the manner you prefer.

IU South Bend is offering voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing, with 50 spots open each week during the intersession, through Feb. 7. Faculty, staff and students will have the option to schedule a voluntary test, with results back within a few days. Appointments are required for these saliva-based tests, which are offered at the same on-campus sites where mitigation testing is conducted.

You should NOT schedule a voluntary test if you:

• Have symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, cough, congestion or runny nose, sore throat, muscle or body aches, or new loss of taste or smell.
• Have been selected for required mitigation testing that week.
• Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days.
• Are currently in quarantine as a close contact of someone with COVID-19.

To schedule a test, click the appropriate campus link on the COVID-19 testing requirements page. Testing slots open up at 2 p.m. the Friday before the week of testing.

Scholarship Opportunity from the INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS, LOCAL 153 for children of active union members in good standing contributing to the Electrical Industry Advancement Fund.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 153, Scholarship provides scholarship support to biological or dependent children (as determined by the IRS) including step-children who live more than 50 percent of the time in the household of active union members in good standing who are contributing to the Electrical Industry Advancement Fund. If insufficient applicants are gathered from this group, IUSB will consider biological grandchildren and then current spouses (in that order) of active union members in good standing. Applicants must be formally admitted to IUSB and can pursue study in any IUSB undergraduate degree program, including associate and bachelor degrees. Full or part-time, as well as beginning and transfer applicants, will be considered.

 Amount:

The scholarship will award up to 30 percent of the per credit hour tuition cost of attendance at IUSB as well as a book stipend. The book stipend award will be calculated at $10 per credit hour up to $153.00 each semester.

 Application Process: For consideration candidates must submit Indiana University South Bend’s Online Scholarship Application by March 1st.  Assure that you submit your general application and then return to the Scholarships system and look for this opportunity “IUSB-International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Scholarship”  to “apply” to and submit the additional information for this specific scholarship.
