UCET Spring Active Learning Institute – Creativity in Your Course. Creativity is strong element in the arts, but it can also apply to all other disciplines. As teachers, we actively participate in the creative process whenever we develop a new course, a new assignment, or engage with students in a new online environment. In fashioning experiences using our own inventiveness, we guide students to become creative and reflective thinkers. Join Jay VanderVeen for a series of workshops that will facilitate the creativity that can be added to your own classes. Guest speakers from our faculty will provide examples and helpful tips for implementation. Mark your calendar for sessions on the following Fridays: Feb. 12, Feb. 26, Mar. 12, Mar. 19, and Apr. 23 from 9-11:30am. To register email ucet@iusb.edu

Call for Applications for Trustees Teaching Award

Applications are requested for the Trustees’ Teaching Award (TTA) from tenured and tenured-track faculty, full-time lecturers, and clinical faculty (whose primary duty is teaching) who have taught at Indiana University South Bend for a minimum of two years. The deadline for submitting complete applications to the appropriate College or School is March 1st.

Another Grant Opportunity for Faculty, Staff and Students

The WPLC ( (Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council) is offering grants up to $25,000. Some of our faculty and staff have received grants in the past from the WPLC. There are a lot of  helpful hints at their website.

Outside Scholarship applications

The Completing the Dream Scholarship: In 2021, The Sallie Mae Fund will award (260) gap scholarships worth up to $2,500 to minority students and those from underserved communities who are on track to graduate but are at-risk of not completing due to financial emergency or unpaid school bill. Students can apply for the Completing the Dream Scholarship, at www.salliemae.com/landing/completing-the-dream .

 

The Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students: Coming later this year, The Sallie Mae Fund will also offer (10) $10,000 scholarship to minority students and those from disadvantaged communities who are pursuing a graduate degree.  https://www.salliemae.com/landing/bridging-the-dream-for-graduates/

 

The Bridging the Dream Scholarship for High School Seniors: In 2021, The Sallie Mae Fund will award (25) $10,000 scholarships to high

school seniors who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year degree professional certificate, or vocational training program. Seniors who excel inside and outside of the classroom and demonstrate financial need can apply now through March 8 at www.salliemae.com/landing/bridging-the-dream .
