Students, faculty, and staff from IU’s regional campuses can have their COVID-19-related questions answered by an expert, Aaron Carroll, M.D., M.S., Professor of Pediatrics, and one of the leaders of IU’s COVID-19 response team.

While you are welcome to submit a question below for the Q&A, we encourage you to visit covid.iu.edu for the most up to date information on IU’s preparedness. Answers to many of your questions about testing, resources, and many other topics can be found in the FAQs and may not be covered during the Q&A session.

The live Q&A sessions will include many topics like:
• On-arrival and mitigation testing
• How and when vaccines will likely be distributed
• Connecting with others safely

  • Access is only for students – this means no children; spouse or friends may accompany you.
  • No group work.
  • Access is only for school related work – no game playing, social media, etc.
  • Maximum of 10 people in each lab.
  • Do not come in if you are ill.

Library Prize – $500

If you completed a significant research project during 2020, you may be eligible to apply for the Library Prize for Undergraduate Research.

The Library Prize for Undergraduate Research, sponsored by the IU South Bend Libraries, rewards and celebrates excellence in undergraduate research projects. The annual Library Prize is designed to honor students who demonstrate sophisticated research skill by incorporating information found through the library’s resources into original scholarship. While consideration is given to the product of the research, the prize focuses on the research process and application of information literacy: the demonstration of library research skills, adept use of library resources, and the reflection upon the strategies utilized to investigate a research problem.

A monetary prize of $500 will be awarded.

Deadline is February 12, 2021.

UCET Active Learning Institute: Creative Classrooms on Feb. 12

Attend the open sessions from 10-11:15am to learn what your colleagues are doing. No reservations needed.

Fri, Feb. 12, 9-11:45am. Sparking a Creative Course with Jay VanderVeen (ANTH/UCET) and a TEDx-like event with short videos from IU colleagues and beyond.

This is the first of five Friday sessions, both in person (using the IQ Wall in the Grille) and via Zoom (https://iu.zoom.us/j/89006968271). Members can earn digital badges and contingent faculty can use this as part of the Learn and Earn program. Open sessions are from 10-11:45. Please contact ucet@iusb.edu for more information. Submission Deadline to Analecta Extended

The submission deadline to Analecta has been extended until February 15! Here are the guidelines. Email your short fiction, creative nonfiction, visual art, comics, and drama to iusbanalecta@gmail.com. You can submit in multiple categories. We want it all!

Please use “Analecta Submission + Genre” in the subject line. It really helps if you tell us the genre, especially if it’s not clear if it’s fiction or nonfiction.

Poetry: up to 3 poems
Short Fiction: stories and novel excerpts
Creative Nonfiction: personal essays, memoir, travel narratives
Visual Art: photography, paintings, drawings, collages, etc
Comics: Visual stories and graphic narratives of all sorts
Drama: plays and screenplays

*Longer works may be excerpted

All submissions are automatically considered for publication in Analecta as well as for recognition in the English Department’s Annual Student Writing Awards.

Call for Applications for Trustees Teaching Award

Applications are requested for the Trustees’ Teaching Award (TTA) from tenured and tenured-track faculty, full-time lecturers, and clinical faculty (whose primary duty is teaching) who have taught at Indiana University South Bend for a minimum of two years. The deadline for submitting complete applications to the appropriate College or School is March 1st.
