Do you enjoy singing? Join the Indiana University South Bend Choral Union! No prior musical experience is necessary! If you are not a music major, you can take it for zero credits (so it’s free to join)! The choir meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 – 2:15 and participates in a handful of concerts throughout the full semester! Choir is a place where we can share our love of music with one another and create products that are bigger than ourselves. Come join our Choral Union family for the fall semester! MUS-X70

IU Day on April 23rd

Join us for IU Day on April 23rd from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Green Lawn (or SAC Floor if it rains)! This event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Indiana University and connect with the campus community. Applications for Guided Pathways Academy Faculty Fellow

The campus seeks a full-time faculty member to serve as the inaugural Faculty Fellow for the Guided Pathways Academy (GPA), beginning July 1, 2025. This position will report to Special Associate Vice Chancellor (SAVC) Lee Kahan, with a dotted line to the Director for the University Center for Excellence in Teaching.

Responsibilities

Teach one 3-credit course in the GPA Program as part of their regular courseload, beginning Fall 2026.
In collaboration with UCET, design and implement an orientation for GPA faculty.
In collaboration with UCET, design and implement professional development workshops for GPA faculty during the fall semester.
Maintain all training materials in the GPA Teams site.
Conduct peer reviews of first-time GPA instructors and provide written feedback, in accord with the best practices for peer review endorsed by UCET.
Conduct individual consultations with GPA faculty as needed.
Attend monthly meetings with the GPA Admin Team (SAVC, Program Coordinator).
Attend monthly peer mentor professional development sessions for peer mentors, in collaboration with Program Coordinator.

Qualifications

Required

Full-time faculty
Excellent record of teaching and professional development in teaching
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with faculty and staff
Excellent communication and presentation skills
High degree of professionalism
High level of organizational skills; ability to track multiple projects concurrently
Ability to evaluate quality of existing practices and refine for improved outcomes
Strong communication skills and professionalism
On campus presence in UCET for consultation and training

Preferred

Experience mentoring faculty
Experience conducting peer reviews of teaching
Experience teaching in the Guided Pathways Academy program
Familiarity with research on teaching academically underprepared students

Commitment: This is 3-year appointment for fall semesters only that includes summer duties (separately compensated). If both parties agree, the appointment may be renewed one time before the next search is launched.

Compensation: One course release (3-credit hours) will be awarded each fall semester. A $3,000 stipend is provided for work during the summer.

Note: An additional $1,250 stipend may be available from UCET for the spring semester to work on a special project. Candidates may consult UCET Director Jay VanderVeen about this possibility.

Applicants should include a brief letter of interest highlighting the required and preferred knowledge and skills and a current cv, with the names of at least 3 references. Application materials should be sent to Lee Kahan at lkahan@iu.edu. Position will remain open until filled, but application review will begin May 15, 2025.

Prior to appointment, the candidate’s department chair must approve release time and commitment to teaching a GPA section as part of the appointee’s remaining teaching load.

South Bend Cubs Featuring Titan Tuesday Specials for Home Games

Indiana University South Bend is teaming up with the South Bend Cubs for Titan Tuesday events at the ballpark this season. Students, faculty, staff and families can get up to a 50% discount on tickets by wearing their favorite IU gear or presenting a Crimson Card at the ticket window. People purchasing tickets online through this link can also get the discount by entering the code: Titan25

The discount is only good for Tuesday home games during this season. The Cubs will be highlighting the campus with a commercial on the outfield video screen each game and representatives from campus will be throwing out the first pitch.
