This one credit hour, hands-on course will offer an opportunity to gain introductory experience performing activities in the diagnostic laboratory such as serial dilutions, blood cell identification, blood typing, and bacterial culture. CLS-L201 Introduction to the Diagnostic Laboratory
CLS-L201 will be offered during the first 8 weeks of the fall semester on Mondays from 10:00 – 11:30. This one credit hour course will introduce you to the profession located at the intersection of science, technology, and medicine. Each week, you will explore one of the many departments of the diagnostic laboratory. Whether you want to work in a hospital lab, reference lab, government public health lab or want to continue on to an advanced degree such as medicine or pathology assistant, the medical laboratory profession is right for you.

Nominations for the Chancellor’s Awards for Community Engagement, Innovation, Learner-Centered Commitment to Service and Outstanding Student Employee are being accepted now through August 27.
Nominations may be made by any member of the IU South Bend Community including faculty, staff, and students. Employees eligible include full time staff, hourly with retirement and student employees.
The recipient will:
- Receive a $300 monetary award
- Receive a reserved parking space for 3 months
- Receive a framed certificate
- Be recognized at a casual reception
