Friday, Nov. 6 is the free virtual Advancing Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium at IUPUI. This virtual symposium will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and begins with an interesting keynote session on Creating Equitable and Inclusive Online Classrooms with Dr. Kelly Hogan and Dr. Viji Sathy of the University of North Carolina. They will discuss teaching strategies that emphasize structured active learning and can create more equitable classrooms and improve learning for all students. Year End ePTO and Pay Date Reminders
PTO Changes for 2020 ONLY:
- Any PTO that cannot be carried over into 2021 will be moved to Sick time (i.e. employee’s transfer to Sick isn’t limited to 96 hours this year). Employees whose PTO balance is under the carryover limit may still choose to allocate PTO to Sick.
- If your office is closed for the holidays and an employee does not have enough eligible time off to cover it, the employee may apply ANP (Anticipated PTO), which will allow their PTO balance to go negative temporarily. (Typically this option is reserved for employees hired 10/1 or after.)
Holiday Use Reminder:
- Unused 2019 holiday hours expire at the end of this year. If staff do not use these holidays, they lose them.
- For support, service, and PAO & PAU staff, Holiday time off earned in 2019 must be used by December 26, 2020.
- For PAE staff, Holiday time off earned in 2019 must be used by December 31, 2020.
- Staff who transferred or were reclassified from Biweekly to Monthly in 2019-2020 may have available HOL accrual balances but won’t have the option to use the hours in their drop-down list of time-off codes. Transferred HOL hours must be applied manually, so please send an email to kpizana@iusb.edu to use these hours.
Year-End Pay Dates:
- For support, service, and PAO & PAU professional staff, the last pay date of 2020 is
December 24, 2020, for time worked between November 29, 2020 and December 12,
2020. - PAE professional staff will receive pay for work during December 2020 on January
4, 2021.
